What happens if the recipient is not home or at work when you arrive to deliver?
If we are delivering to a business, our first step is giving the recipient a call. We will try to get more information so that we can assess if we will be able to complete the delivery so that the flowers are there when they arrive back at the office or if we should not leave them at the office because they will not be in soon. Our next step would be to give the sender a call. If it is a situation where we don’t feel that we should leave them in the office we’ll ask for a home address we can use for a same day or next day redelivery (pending availability on our routes). Sometimes, we have to move the delivery date all together if the recipient is out of town for business or on vacation and we’ll communicate that back to the sender so they’re aware of what we have discovered during the delivery process.
If we are delivering to a residential address and nobody is home, the process is similar. Our driver would call and/or text the recipient to ask if they’d like us to leave it on the porch or in another specified safe space. Oftentimes, we can deliver to a neighbor. We always try to get an approved spot to deliver to from either the recipient or the sender. It’s not always possible with cell phones that identify unknown numbers as spam. We can't always get through to either party from our delivery phones. If the weather is nice and the porch is shaded and protected from elements, we will often leave deliveries on the front porch.

I’d like to know more about your wedding packages and services - where do we start?
Weddings are one of our favorite events to work on because we get to have a deeper relationship with our client and really get to know them and be a part of such a special day. If you’re interested in our wedding services, reach out to us! We like to start the wedding planning process by having you complete a simple questionnaire so we can get an idea of what you and your fiance have in mind for your wedding flowers - colors, overall style, likes and dislikes.
From there, we can do a consultation in person, over video, or over the phone (and some clients even choose to do everything over email!). We are here to help and be flexible for whatever style of planning you have in mind and whatever amount of time you have to devote to it!
We’ll discuss your needs for your ceremony and reception spaces, your flower type preferences, colors, design styles that you like, and budget considerations. From here, we’ll create a custom design concept and proposal for your event including each detail so that we both know we are on the same page. The design concept is the fun part. This is where we describe to you what flowers, colors, and overall vision we’ll be creating for your wedding. The proposal is an itemized list of each design you are ordering with the individual pricing and quantity for each item. We also include our delivery and set up fee, a strike fee if you need that service, and tax right up front. We don’t like to have any surprises when it comes to the cost of your wedding flowers. Keeping all the exact costs on our proposals helps us to help you make adjustments and changes as needed to meet your needs.
After we send out the design concept and proposal to you (or your planner) we can discuss and questions or concerns, make changes to the proposal and adjust anything up until 30 days prior to your wedding date. If you decide you’d like to reserve us for your wedding date, you’ll make a date retainer payment and then you can make any additional payments up until 30 days before your wedding. At the 30 day mark, your final payments and final counts on tables and guests are due. Once we receive that full final payment, we’ll reserve your flowers with the farms so that we can guarantee the colors and flower types that we’ve discussed.
I tried placing an order, but it didn't go through. What can I do?
How can I pay?
What if my chosen flowers aren't available?
Occasionally, substitutions may be necessary to create your bouquet due to the availability of certain flowers in various parts of the country. Care is taken to maintain the style, theme and color scheme of the arrangement, using flowers of equal value. Additionally, the substitution of certain keepsake items may be necessary due to increased demand, especially during major holidays. In single-flower arrangements, such as an all rose bouquet, or orchids, we will make every attempt to match the flower type, but may substitute with another color.
Substitutions are chosen based on similarity to the overall product look and feel as well as the color scheme of the originally ordered flower bouquet. So if you ordered a tall vase filled with purple flowers and accents of blue flowers, we want to make sure we deliver a tall vase filled with purple flowers and accents of blue flowers. We may have to substitute purple lisianthus for purple buttons when those are out of stock, but we like to make sure you still get something that looks essentially the same. We always try to call and let our senders know that we are making a substitution on their design, but that we’ll make sure it still looks stunning, has all the qualities you liked about the fresh design you chose for your recipient, and is delivered on time, in top shape.
How much time in advance is required for event orders like weddings, funerals, or corporate events?
For weddings, we prefer you reach out 6-9 months before your wedding date. This will allow us time to go over each aspect of your wedding flowers in detail as well as have your initial guest count list and then final counts so that we can adjust flowers as needed. After initial consultation, if you decide you’d like to use us for your wedding flowers, you’ll make a small, non-refundable date retainer to reserve your wedding date on our calendar. After that payment, you can make payments of your choosing at any time up until 30 days prior to your wedding. At the 30 day mark, we require any final payments and final guest counts so that we can place your flower order. This allows us time to be able to reserve your custom flowers and guarantee colors giving the farms plenty of time to let us know if there are any issues. After the 30 day mark, we can make adjustments to the placement of the flowers, but the overall order cannot be edited.
For more last minute brides and grooms, we are available to help as well! If you call us the week of your wedding or elopement, we will take a look at what is available in our cooler already and you can choose from those flowers and colors for your designs. You may have less options available when calling a week ahead, but we’ll still pour the same time and love into your wedding work.
Funeral flowers require a much shorter timeline. Many families will come in as they are beginning the planning process to discuss their flower colors and design choices. A week or so is great for family meetings for arrangements. If you’re sending flowers to the service or to the home of the deceased family, a couple days or even same day orders can be accommodated as long as we have plenty of time to put the designs together and get them safely delivered to the service. We need at least 4 hours or so prior to the service time at a minimum.
Corporate events are sort of the middle ground between the two timelines. Due to the scale of many corporate events with 30 or 60 or more centerpieces, we’d love at least a 2 week heads up at minimum. If the scale is smaller or you have a very general color scheme and no other requests, we can often accommodate a corporate event the week of based on what’s available in our cooler already.
It is always worth giving us a call or sending a chat to check if we can help! We love serving our event clients and will do whatever we can to try and make something happen even if it’s last minute - if we can get the flowers and containers for you and have a designer who is available to create your flower arrangements, we’ll make it happen for you!
Would it be difficult to send flowers tomorrow?
This question is one that we get a lot, so we wanted to dedicate our first post to it. I even got this text from my brother yesterday, "would it be difficult to send flowers tomorrow?". He lives out of town, so I told him I would have to check, but we should be able to use a trusty florist that we have worked with in the past. I gave them a call and got their delivery fee and fresh flower availability and it was full steam ahead.
Our goal is to be able to deliver same day and next day flowers, always! 90% of the time, if you call a day ahead, you're in the clear! The best way to guarantee that your flowers will be delivered on time is to select one of our seasonal designs that are in stock or a designer's choice design. Our website is updated every day with our availability or you can give us a call or visit in store to verify what is available to go out in San Antonio.
We have a huge variety of fresh flowers coming in weekly, if not twice a week, so fresh, quality flowers are always available to our clients. If you are sending to a school, a business, or a funeral service, be sure to get that order in to us the day before or early in the morning so that we can get it routed on one of our trucks. Don’t forget to provide a phone number for the recipient (even if it’s a surprise!). Being unable to find the recipient or the address is one of the main reasons a gift may not be delivered on the intended delivery date. Since our flowers are freshly designed by hand, they aren’t delivered in a box and often cannot be left outside a door (Texas heat is no joke!).
So yes, 9 out of 10 times, we can absolutely send out flowers for you tomorrow! Just be ready to order what’s available on February 13th with no special flower requests – and if you do want something custom, call us on February 1 so that we can guarantee those custom options for you!
Can you send something to my mom out of town?
The Flower Bucket is ready to serve you all across Texas. With locations in Austin, San Antonio, Houston, Dallas, Fort Worth, Waco, and Corpus Christi or teams are happy to serve clients in any of those cities by hand delivering flowers for you!
Give us a call anytime or even order on our website to send out of town to any city where we are or any city where we have a partner florist! Our customer service team will process your out of town order with utmost care and attention to detail. When we receive your order that will be delivered out of town, we carefully review all the details of your request. We call our sister flower shop or a partner florist and confirm the availability of each flower and any add-on products that you may have requested. We’ll confirm the delivery time and address for you, and send over that order to make sure it’s taken care of professionally and with the highest quality in mind.
Occasionally, the products listed on our website may not be available at one of our sister stores or partner florists. If this is the case, we will give you a call and follow up with an email if we can’t reach you. We’ll make sure that whichever florist works on your gift usels the best quality products available so that you get the freshest flowers available. Our goals are making the ordering process smooth and quick for you, that the receiver of your gift gets a top quality, long lasting design, and that the gift is delivered on time.
When you choose The Flower Bucket, we’ll make sure your mom is truly pleased with the gift that is hand delivered to her so that she knows just how special she is to you!
What is the meaning of each rose color?
Roses are a classic choice for sending flowers - with so many gorgeous varieties and colors that are all generally long lasting and available year round. But, how to choose which color to send? This is great to know if you want to be sure you’re not sending the wrong message.
Yellow roses represent friendship and caring. We often send them out for military ceremonies, from dad to daughter, or within a relationship sent for a birthday more often than anniversary. Yellow roses are a great choice if you’re sending to someone at work and don’t want to be mistaken for anything other than friend zone.
Red roses are the number one choice for love and romance. They are perfect for sending your love to a budding romantic partner or for portraying your long lasting love and commitment when married for many years. They’re our number one seller during Valentine’s Day week and are popular during Mother’s Day week as well.
Lavender roses are typically used to portray admiration. The color purple is associated with royalty so I think this is why lavender roses are used for admiration. I’ve also seen them noted as used for showing that you feel or felt love at first sight. I’ve personally never worked with a client who sent them for this reason though. Most often we send out lavender roses to someone who loves the color or as a romantic gift to someone who likes a more unique look or isn’t a big red rose fan.
Pink roses are used to symbolize grace, joy, and gratitude. They’re more gentle than the striking look of red roses and come in a variety of shades. The hot pink rose really packs a punch of color, and you can find all the way opposite with a dusty pink shade of rose. We see these being sent between individuals in a new relationship - not quite ready to profess love, but wanting to show admiration and caring. Pink roses are also often sent between friends or from mother to daughter.
White roses are a symbol of purity and innocence. We most often use them for sympathy designs or to someone who loves a muted, classic look in their all rose bouquets. They’re popular for weddings that have a classy, timeless look.
Orange roses indicate passion and enthusiasm and come in a variety of shades from peach to deep, fiery orange. They look stunning paired with hot pink roses or even yellow. Orange roses are most popular for us in the fall season, but make a really gorgeous unique option for Valentine’s Day or a summer birthday.
How will my refund be processed?
All refunds will be processed in the same method of payment that was used to pay for the order. We are unable to process a cash refund for a credit card order. Credit card refund times may vary based on your bank.
Effective Date: January 1, 2020
